Biography
Richard Fleisher is a retired attorney from Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg, LLC. He practiced law for over 40 years, building a reputation as one of Illinois’ most accomplished trial lawyers and securing jury verdicts that were, at various times, state records for widows, octogenarians, and Federal Employee Liability Act (FELA) railroad workers.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Fleisher personally argued cases before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He handled a landmark case involving jurisdiction and service of out-of-state defendants in Illinois and helped shape case law under the Federal Employees Liability Act. He tried cases in states beyond Illinois, including Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. He also participated in major mediations and arbitrations on behalf of clients, bringing complex cases to successful resolution. His litigation work included all types of personal injury, products liability, medical malpractice and nursing home cases. He secured awards as high as $18 million in explosion cases and, alongside firm partner Charles V. Falkenberg III, obtained a $17.2 million award in a construction site accident case. Mr. Fleisher’s firm receives referrals from other law firms and attorneys in Illinois and throughout the United States. He is no longer practicing law but remains a respected figure in the legal community.
